The Corona Virus epidemic is changing the way we communicate and gather for events across the world. With lots of Cities on lockdown or other form of restricted movements, human gathering and interactions are moving into the virtual community. A couple recently got married on Zoom from 2 different cities with witnesses join online from another dozen communities across the world.

WhatsApp has been found wanting as it video calling ability is limited to just 4 people at the same time. This is gross inadequate even for small business owners who will love to hold virtual meetings. A few of the other available options such as Zoom, Skype have the capacity to accommodate more.

Now WhatsApp is increasing the number of users in a single video call to a maximum of 8 users. The feature is already out in the beta mode and might soon be made available to users of the main App.

How to add more friends to a WhatsApp call

To make a WhatsApp video conference call, initiate the call to one of the intending recipients.

When the call has been successfully connected, look for the Human+Add symbol at the top right hand corner and click on it.

Add more people to the video call by searching for them and clicking the names.

Allow them to pick and join the video conference.

At the moment, a total of just 4 people is allowed to join the video conference.

WhatsApp video calling quality is one of the best and use very little data.
