MTN Chat
Messenger ‘Ayoba’, is here to challenge Whatsapp, Telegram and other IMs for
the soul of instant communication in Africa. The Telecommunication giant just launched
a new instant messaging mobile app called ‘Ayoba’ which when fully developed,
will allow user to transfer money from the app.
The app has been
in beta for months and still have a few marks to tick before it can be fully
released into the markets across the continent. Ayoba has an inbuilt SMS integration, this
means that you can send a SMS message to anyone even if they are not using
Ayoba App.
The light weight
App is free to use and just like Whatsapp,
all that is required it to allow the app to acess your phone book to connect
you with friends. The app already has a inbuilt call function.
You can set a
download limit based on your data budget, you can set it such that it does not
download media that is greater than 20MB and you can also compress files if you
want. Of course, the regular backing up your chats to the cloud and end-to-end
encryption is provided with the app.
You can download
it on your Android smartphone from Google play store but the iOS version is not
ready.
