FACEBOOK WILL NOW PAY YOU FOR SHARING YOUR DATA WITH THEM
Facebook has relaunched its paid market research program
called “Study”. The program was shut down some months ago but it is now
exclusive to the Android platform at present.
‘Study’ as it is known
is a Facebook Program that pays participants for sharing information about how
they use apps which is not limited to Facebook owned apps alone. The aim was to
help build better products for the Facebook community.
It was shut down due to several reasons – Facebook was
accused of exploiting a loophole in Apple’s privacy regulations to gain deeper
access to the phone, which violated Apple’s rules.
A statement from facebook said that “We have learned what
people expect when they sign up to participate in market research has changed,
and we’ve built this app to match those expectations. We’re offering
transparency, compensating all participants, and keeping people’s information
safe and secure.”
Who Can Participate?
You must be 18 years old or above before you can participate
How it Works
You need someone to invite you via an link which will be sent
to your mail to download the study app. install the app and give permission to
the app to get your usage of data, in turn you get rewarded for it. Maybe you can get someone to send you the invite link.
There is currently no clear instruction on how the users will
be paid but formally, facebook requested for PayPal details as a means of
payments.
Note: the user-research program does not collect user IDs,
passwords, or any of the participant’s content, such as photos, videos, or
messages.
