IPHONE SE: WILL NIGERIANS BUY THIS SMALL BUT POWERFUL SMART PHONE?
There is this
adage about how the small medicine can actually achieve great feats. Just the
same way the 4-inch iPhone SE can boost of great features like the iPhone 6s. I
am used to my iPhones coming in small sizes until I moved to 5 inch Android
devices. So when Apple announced the 4 inch iPhone SE, I thought it will be a
great reunion, alas! I was wrong as I am not comfortable with the SE.

Apple released
bigger iPhones for the first time in the year 2014. This was after years of
making those small looking but very successful iPhones. The bigger screen
iPhones also very successful that nobody thought Apple would go back to making
4-inch devices 2 years later. Definitely, the marketing (whatever they call it)
must have analyzed some data to prove some people still want their iPhones
small. I guess this analysis do not include emerging economies like Nigeria.
What are the
things most people consider when picking up a new smart phone?
1. Technology: The hardware and software are major
factors in making decisions. Is it IOS or Android?
2. Price: How much can I afford for spend on a
smart phone with such configuration.
3. Size: How big is the phone because the bigger
the size the bolder the text and images.
The 16GB 4-inch
iPhone SE on Konga has a price tag of ₦178,000. Some other stores listed it for
₦150,000 per one. It’s a known fact that
the iPhone SE packs almost the same power as the iPhone 6s and I compared the
Antutu benchmark result I got on the iPhone 6s Plus with that of the iPhone SE.
The iPhone 6s Plus is ahead by only a very small margin.
Nobody will
doubt the fact that the phone is packed at the write places but who will buy a
4 inch phone now that the standard is 5.5 inch. Except for some few ladies that
will love to have something small, Nigerians wont cough out 150, 000 Naira for
a phone that won’t fill up their palms. They will surely go for older big
models which are selling at almost the same price.

The price is not the issue but the size. It might get lost quickly
